Carlos Alberto Cruz Villar obtuvo su licenciatura en Ingeniería en Comunicaciones y Electrónica en el Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), México, en 1995, y su doctorado en Ingeniería Eléctrica en el Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (CINVESTAV-IPN), México, en 2001. Desde 2001, es investigador de la Sección de Mecatrónica del CINVESTAV-IPN. Es editor académico del journal PlosOne. Sus líneas de investigación incluyen diseño óptimo y control de sistemas mecatrónicos, interacción física robot/humano y control basado en datos.
